Questions before a care plan
Give the proposed medicine its full name.
A plan name is not enough. Record the ingredient, the product, and the form before comparing claims about them.
Approval details below use the September 26, 2026 record.
For semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy), approved products are recorded by the FDA (the Food and Drug Administration). Tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) also has approved products.
A pharmacy-made preparation is called compounded. It cannot borrow an approved medicine’s status merely by using the same ingredient.
A product number does not mean approval.
The number beside a medicine in the FDA’s product list is its National Drug Code (NDC). A seller may offer that number as reassurance; it does not prove approval.
Ask for the record showing whether the product has approval. Finding its name and number on a list does not answer that question.
Some names need a firmer stop.
The FDA says federal law bars compounding with either retatrutide or cagrilintide.
