Questions before a care plan
The pharmacy’s name belongs in the answer.
Ask who would prepare the medicine and who would send it. Keep those names beside the prescription details.
In online care, the pharmacy preparing a medicine can be hard for a patient to identify. The FDA (the Food and Drug Administration) has highlighted this gap.
Look beyond the service’s branding.
As checked on September 26, 2026, FDA registration means a facility is entered in the agency’s records. That entry does not show FDA approval of the facility or its medicines.
The FDA provides links to state lists where you can search for a pharmacy and check its licence.
A pharmacy shipping across state lines usually needs a licence or permit from the receiving state as well.
Use the name on the proposed supply details. If the names differ, ask why. Keep the unanswered question visible instead of filling the gap yourself.
Notes for this chapter
- FDA route to state pharmacy licence searches
This is a route to the board record, rather than a list of recommended businesses.
- FDA on what it actually approves
Use this when a registration claim is offered as an approval answer.
